Jeremy once said in a talk that the notion of being creative truly equates to the notion of being productive. If one doesn’t actually make things–a lot of things all the time–one can see where this is going.
Jeremy tries to do and make a lot of things. Some of these ideas have seen meager to moderate success. Most of them have failed miserably and have been relegated to the creative compost heap to turn into something that hopefully becomes the basis of a bigger idea. That’s what it’s all about, Sparky.
the COCKTAIL NAPKIN is a video periodical of uncurbed ideas that Jeremy produces as those uncurbed ideas emerge. The topics of this series are wide by default but normally will have some distant thread tying the topic to the philosophy of creativity. Sometimes one really, really has to search to find that thread. But, Jeremy tries. He really does.
the ROCKS GLASS is one of those fancy-schmancy Tumblr sites, which means it has become Jeremy’s repository for audiovisual inspiration as well as the new home for Jeremy’s written thoughts.
Jeremy created the rock band NAME GENERATOR for those times you can’t make up your mind. We’ve all been there. You’re setting up a new game on Rock Band or Guitar Hero and you can’t think of a clever, slightly offensive band name to use for your world tour.
Until now, you’ve been forced to type in “Ass” or “Farts” and move on. But with the Rock Band Name Generator, those days are over.
Jeremy Fuksa and Trip Ross are two fine-smelling fellows with a rich collaborative history. The two began making short comedic videos in 2001 and focused their attention in 2010 on the YET TO BE NAMED PODCAST, which they tried their best to produce as a monthly podcast.
the MARTINI SHAKER was the place where Jeremy wrote hand-waving rants about the state of creativity. The site was closed in May 2010, but Jeremy left the site up as an archive of the thinking, growth and change that the site underwent for the previous five years.
das CÖBRA was a collaborative music project between Jeremy and Greg Szmurlo of Selleck Waterfall Sandwich fame, as well as a number of digital creatives at Barkley that singlehandedly ruined the Kansas City Ad Club’s Battle of the Ad Bands contest. Or, at least, that’s what they’d like to think.
Tiki Bar: The Animated Series was an albatross that hung around Jeremy’s neck for six years before he finally decided to abandon the idea. Two lessons can be learned from this:
Over the years, Jeremy noticed that television sportscasters have the tremendous ability to say the most obvious, banal or purely idiotic things during the course of a game.
While watching a football game one Saturday, Jeremy whipped up the Idiotic Sportscaster Sayings web app as a way for people to share their favorites that they’ve heard, as well as a mechanism for voting certain sayings into a hall of fame.
Very few people cared.
